Interactive Terrain Exhibit Technology

Explore Grand Canyon
An Interactive Terrain Exhibit at the Arizona Science Center

About the Exhibit:
Explore Grand Canyon provides an interactive experience of Grand Canyon National Park through the use of cutting edge technology, real-time data, and interpretive content. The central element of the exhibit is a 3D physical terrain model which is computer milled from geographic data. Presented on the 3D terrain model is a variety of interactive educational information about the canyon complimented by a 42” High Definition LCD screen. A custom developed interface allows for interaction with the content presented on both the terrain model and LCD screen. Visitors who use the exhibit can virtually visit areas of the park through 360 degree panoramas, explore the temperature throughout the canyon via live weather data feeds, learn about the incredible elevation changes of the canyon, view historic stereoview photographs, and much more. The exhibit will continue to grow and offer more experiences to visitors as new content is developed and instantly updated on the exhibit through a digital connection.
